2006-10-11 [Ravenclaw]: the caliber depends on the size of the hole you want, don't forget. but you can always get those magnet decals for you car that look like bullet holes. it would probably be more nticable if you've gut the usual ghilly work for the helmet

I know that some who sell weapons also have shooting ranges. Under controled conditions you might get someone to shoot it for you.

The costumes we submit has to follow the halloween theme? Is that correct, or is the halloween kinda like a guide line for if you want to enter and don't know what to do. Because I really want to enter, since I've put so much time into my costume, I'm going to be Sailor Pluto off of the anime Sailor Moon. 8 of my friends and I are going trick or treating together as the Sailor Scouts. 2007-10-31 [Elisha Kelly]: okay I am also confused... last year we could enter pics of costumes we made ourselves, but not necessarily were for ourselves. Halloween isn't big is australia, so it really isn't worth the cost of me making a costume for me. The ONLY reason I make a Halloween costume for the kids is because they have a do up at the school... and I can add it to their dress-up collection. I just feel that that particular rule isn't really fair to cultures who don't celebrate Halloween in that sort of way.

2007-10-31 [Sunrose]: A long time ago it was decided to celebrate Halloween on Elftown. Halloween, as well as Christmas and Valentines, isn't celebrated in many countries at all.
This part of the contest is about the tradition of costumes, there are many people who participate who don't actually celebrate it in that way either.
Anyway, I felt costumes for pets would become too far fetched. I didn't remember exactly what we did last year, maybe we can fix something up.

2007-10-31 [Stratakus]: I wish I had more time to make a Contest worthy costume, but I just covered a ripped tuxedo shirt in fake blood and said I was attacked by a werewolf. And then the stripping started....

2007-11-01 [Elisha Kelly]: I realise that, but it isn't worth the cost and effort for me to make a costume for myself just for this comp... but I don't mind making the kids costumes :D becasue they use them all the time, not just for their halloween disco. Some people make costumes for others, and not themselves. I just think it strange not to allow a costume I made myself from scratch, even though it is for someone else to wear. I go through all the same creative processes as someone who went and made one for themselves.

2008-09-24 [james2777]: ok asked last year so i`ll ask again this year. can I submit a costume of our pet ( dog) which go`s our with us every year and i make something for him every year. I see where there is a comment about pets and our own ammusment. But our dog is part of the family and go`s on several events a year. So amusement is not valid at all. alot of work go`s into these it is not a pet -co store bought idem it is done complety by hand. this would be the 3rd year in a row i have requested to do this. as he is part of the family he should qualify. this year he will go out wearing a white coustom with an complete sewed on eagle with an american flag and the twin towers in the back ground with the words " NEVER FORGET 9-11-2001" under the scean...this is not a store bought idem nor is it a throw together idem took about 3 weeks to but this together.. with a silk top and felt underling as not to rub against him a blue lining all around the idem and vercro strap binding. will to send you pictures of this idem [Sunrose] so you can see what i mean. so i`m asking to be included in the contest. overall voteing says who wins anywsy. thank you J

2008-09-24 [Lothuriel]: Sorry [james2777] but, pet photos are still not allowed into this competition. I understand how you feel about your pet and I know that the majority of us, on the Crew, have pets that are loved just the same as your dog. But, this is a rule that we feel we cannot bend on. Although your dog may be more than willing and happy to don a beautiful hand-made costume, many other pets are not so eager and willing. We don't want to encourage the type of situation where someone may torture or annoy a pet just for a few good giggles, making the argument of "amusment" a valid one. 

The other reason is that pet photos are far too easily faked.  There are just far too many pets who can look nearly identical to others of the same breed so, it might be tempting for a pet owner to find some random photo and claim it as their own furry friend.

2008-10-26 [Jitter]: I asked and it eventually has to be the same costume. So you can either submit just 3 images of makeup under "Makeup" or the costume and make up under "Costume" :)

2008-10-26 [Rat Hacker]: Okay I don't know it this would qualify, probably not. Since I don't have a lot of money and not really any experience with sewing. I wanted to be Two-Face from the new Batman movie. I had clothing that I either previously wore and still have that is actual articles of clothing that I had gotten over the time of living. The things were bought, but not as a set. 

As I said I highly doubt that would count, but that is why I am asking.

The deadline is usually after Halloween, because many people take their photos of their costumes and such on the day or night of Halloween, the 31st.

2011-11-01 [Yuriona]: LOL! It was actually hard to find the competition oddly enough. The photo poll forces the calendar down really far and it says the costume portion has the same theme as the art and poetry sections even though I'm pretty sure the costume section doesn't have a theme for obvious reasons. :/
